Description

The ceremony hall was designed to reflect the traditional scale and massing of a building of a railway siding.

The design creates a single large space for gathering, assembly and positive reflection, with the simple structure of the building legible from the inside, with glazed openings and overall proportions typical of a place of worship or ceremony.

The external material is timber will be left untreated to ‘silver’ and blend harmoniously against the treed backcloth.

Whilst the material itself is traditional (and commonplace within a rural setting), it has been designed to be applied in a contemporary manner – adopting an elegant, narrow gauge with a smooth machined finish, which then deliberately continues as the roofing material (with concealed gutters to ensure a seamless finish throughout).
