About Us

Design Haus is an award-winning, RIBA chartered architectural practice based in Nottingham.

Our approach is based on a collaborative ethos. We value teamwork to build close relationships with colleagues, clients, and consultants in the pursuit of creating buildings and spaces that meet their needs. Our aim is to provide creative designs which are specific to the location they inhabit.

We delight in problem solving. Our process commences with conversations that seek to unlock the essential project requirements. By engaging our clients in the design phase and really understanding their aspirations for their home, we believe we create better designs that truly fulfill our clients' project goals.

We understand the obstacles clients can face, and offer practical, commercially feasible resolutions which work, both in the present and foreseeable future.

We believe sustainability must be part of the work we produce. Our aim is to design buildings and spaces that are durable but economically adaptable for future changes.

We use 3D visualisation via VR technology and other innovative presentation techniques throughout each project. Our clients can collaborate and bring their ideas to the table at every step of the way, alongside experiencing the design in its entirety before construction even begins.

Our team is composed of dedicated professionals who collaborate closely with our clients. Together, we work to create designs that seamlessly integrate with their surroundings and fulfil their intended purpose. With our collective expertise and commitment to quality, we aim to deliver user-led solutions that meet our clients' requirements to the fullest.

James Brindley
Architect

BA Hons, BSc Hons, MArch ARB, RIBA, BIID.

James is a seasoned architect based in the UK, boasting accreditation from both the Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) and the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID). With over 20 years of industry experience, James has completed various high-profile projects, including bespoke residential developments, large-scale educational facilities, and captivating hospitality buildings.

James is deeply passionate about collaborative design and innovative workflow methods. He achieves this by leveraging cutting-edge technology, including Virtual Reality (VR), which enables clients and stakeholders to vividly visualise and fully comprehend spaces long before the construction phase begins.

In his free time James enjoys long dog walks with his family preferably along Holkham Beach. He also enjoys playing golf and watching rugby.

Charlotte Medhurst
Architectural Designer

BA Hons, MArch, PGDip.

Charlotte is an architectural designer with a BA in Interior Architecture and Design graduating in 2013 and an MA in Architecture graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 2019. Charlotte has experience in a variety of sectors including commercial workspaces, conservation, residential and retail environments.

Following her MA degree, Charlotte worked in London on a mixture of projects from large-scale commercial workspaces to residential conservation refurbishments and extensions for private clients. She is passionate about sustainable building methods and the adaptive re-use of spaces and materials.

Charlotte has a year of experience tutoring undergraduate and MA interior architecture and design and is passionate about engaging with young people in this field.

Outside of architecture, Charlotte is a keen gardener, both indoors and outdoors and can often be found indoor bouldering indulging her love of climbing.

Esther Hamilton-Dick
Studio Manager

BA Hons

Esther is the newest member of the Design Haus Team and is the key point of contact for many of our clients. She has a degree in Business and an extensive background in Marketing and Communications and Events Management, having worked in both public and charitable sector organisations.

She is passionate about interior design with her home being featured in both 'House Beautiful' and 'Homebuilding & Renovating' magazines.

Outside of the office, Esther enjoys spending time with her children, decorating and interiors, squeezing in a Pilates class or two and seizing the opportunity to visit the coast whenever possible.

Saffy

Saffy is an occasional visitor to the office, her passions are long walks and sausages!
